Melnitz Movies Unveiling new sustainable ticketing system!
February 4, 2012 - 2:00pm
Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 7, Melnitz Movies is proud to announce a new, sustainable ticketing system that reduces wait time in line! The new numbered, laminated, and reusable tickets replace the previous paper tickets with a responsible, sustainable alternative, and addresses audience concerns and constructive feedback. A collaboration between Melnitz Movies, GSA Publications, and the Sustainable Resource Center, these new tickets will effectively reduce overall paper waste while additionally allowing moviegoers to secure a ticket that guarantees them a place in line. Special thanks go out to Michelle Tu of GSA Publications for designing the new Melnitz Movies tickets.
The new tickets are numbered and will be distributed to audience members in numerical, first-come-first-served order. Each ticket will serve as a line placeholder, which will be especially relevant for events boasting a large turnout. After receiving their numbered ticket, Melnitz Movies fans can now run off to a campus café to grab a snack without fear of losing their place in the queue, so long as they return to the theater before house opens, 30 minutes before showtime. When the theater opens, the audience will be admitted by ticket number.
Because the tickets are laminated, they will be collected by James Bridges staff at the door and reused for future Melnitz Movies screenings. Turning in your ticket will now guarantee you entrance to the theater. Guests entering for the first time will have their hands stamped, so that should they briefly leave the theater for other purpose, they will be guaranteed re-entry.
So arrive early, come often, and we'll see you at the movies! Melnitz Movies is your premier free screening series, so come check us out!
