Juan Matute , Director

Juan Matute is a concurrent degree student in the MBA and MA in Urban Planning programs. He plans to apply his degrees towards making corporations and urban systems more sustainable. During the 2007-2008 academic year, Juan served as co-President of the UCLA Anderson Chapter of Net Impact, a national organization of business professionals and MBAs using business to create a positive social impact. Last summer Juan interned with Golden Boy Partners, a real estate firm focused on building workforce housing in urban communities. His interests include carbon finance, green mixed-income transit oriented development, and renewable energy. Juan holds a B.A. in International Relations from Pomona College.

Luchino is a UCLA Senior concentrating in International Development Studies. He is a director of the Education for Sustainable Living lecture series.
Nurit Katz, Founder

Nurit Katz is a social entrepreneur and sustainability consultant focused on building multi-sector and interdisciplinary collaboration. She founded the UCLA Sustainable Resource Center in 2005 to provide resources for the campus and community on sustainability. She then served as President of the Graduate Students Association and helped to create a new interdisciplinary graduate certificate program- Leaders in Sustainability. She has worked on a variety of sustainability projects including a project for the City of Los Angeles that focused on transit-oriented development along the Expo Light Rail Line. Her essay on the topic was published in the UCLA Anderson Forecast's "Solutions for Our City". Nurit holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Masters in Public Policy from the UCLA School of Public Affairs. She is an active member of Net Impact, an international organization of professionals using business to create a positive social impact.
Nurit received her BA in Environmental Education at Humboldt State University and after college taught with a number of education programs including an innovative Farm-to-School program that provides a healthy lunch as part of an integrated curriculum that uses local food systems as a context for learning. She continued to work on nutrition and health issues with the UCLA Center for Research, Education, Training, and Strategic Communication on Minority Health Disparities. She traveled to Ghana in 2007 on a project to expand the UCLA Johnson & Johnson Management Development Institute, a program that provides management capacity building for HIV/AIDS service providers in Africa.
